The History of RGC

The history of Rock'n Gold Creations begins with a dedication to the jewelry trade and the passion to grow. Owner and founder Simon Mattar built upon a childhood of art, engineering, and creativity by attending the Gemological Institute of America. After graduating in the top three of his class in 1988, Simon began to work as a professional jeweler. He first started at the Miramar Naval Air Station, where he further developed his skills and first began to focus on designing custom jewelry. Later, Simon worked for a major San Diego jeweler. As the master jeweler on staff, he was able to practice and develop his unique design abilities.

On Oct 5th, 1992, Simon established Rock'n Gold Creations as a trade and manufacturing shop in San Diego. As the manufacturing side of RGC's business steadily grew, Simon hired two talented jewelers and began to build a private clientele list. By 1996, RGC had become well-known for its manufacturing quality and efficiency, expanding its horizons with a full showroom and a new state-of-the-art workshop. RGC employed seven full-time jewelers and began servicing all of San Diego's military bases as well as manufacturing for many southern California's exclusive jewelers.

Throughout those years of growth, Simon continued to develop his designing skills. He continued to expand upon his body of original design work and in 1999 made the commitment to focus on designing for the individual. Yet again, RGC was on the fast track for growth.

In 2001, RGC moved to its current location on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. to better serve the San Diego community. While continuing to serve some of Southern California's more exclusive jewelers, RGC expanded its development of completely unique designs, making the goal of providing the highest quality designs, impeccable workmanship, and an unmatched dedication to customer service a reality. RGC designer jewelry is manufactured with the highest level of integrity and the finest materials available. To maintain this high level of excellence, RGC only uses collection quality diamonds and gemstones in its pieces.

Today RGC continues to be on the cutting edge of the design and manufacturing world of quality handmade jewelry. Combining the latest in technology with the finest in old school jewelry techniques, RGC has created its "Cool as Ever Creations," a collection of one-of-a-kind designs that are more than just pieces of jewelry. "Cool as Ever Creations" are true works of art: a truly unique combination of masterful design skills combined with a theme or story creates these timeless masterpieces.
